Introduction
Holidays are always an exciting time. There really is no better feeling than the countdown to a holiday. Furthermore, it’s a chance to escape your everyday busy life and immerse yourself in total relaxation. Additionally, it’s an experience where you visit a new place and embrace their food, languages, and vibrant culture.
Furthermore, it’s a time where you step out of your ordinary and explore different places, thus making the most life-changing memories. However, in the excitement, it’s very easy to get caught up and forget important items.
Packing for a holiday can be stressful, but only if you make it. The last thing you want is to get to the airport and find out that you left an important document which prevents you from boarding. Or getting to your destination and realising that you forgot an essential item that inconveniences you the whole trip.
That’s where we come in to help. We have therefore created the ultimate travel checklist for you to use to ensure you don’t forget a single thing.
Documents
- Passport: Make sure it’s at least 6 months valid.
- Visa: If required for your destination.
- ID: Other than your passport, bring another form of ID as backup. This could be a driver’s license or a national identity card.
- Flight Tickets and Boarding Pass: Have a copy saved either on your phone or physically.
Preparation for Your Trip
- Renew and check your passport to make sure it’s up to date. This should be done at least months in advance from your scheduled departure.
- Check in online with the airline. You can usually check in 24 hours before your flight. However, check in with your airline, as it may vary depending on flight time and destination.
- Know your flight time. Memorise this off the back of your hand, because this slip-up could cost you your flight.
- Check your luggage weight, and make sure that it is the weight limit (23 kg). Things like this can cause delays and unnecessary stress.
- Credit or Debit Cards: This is to make sure you can pay for all expenses. It’s also a good idea to notify your bank and let them know you have travelled. This is to avoid your bank suspending your account on theft suspension.
- Change your money. Whilst this isn’t necessary as most banks allow you to use contactless abroad, it’s important to have cash in case of an emergency.
- Arrange transportation to the airport. This could be either through taxi services, such as Uber or Bolt, public transportation, or driving yourself (if so, prepare for airport parking). So plan your route ahead of time to be prepared for traffic or other delays.
- Dress comfortably and be prepared for security checks: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that are easy to take off when you get to security. Furthermore ,avoid wearing excessive metals as it triggers the alarm. Additionally, ensure all hand luggages that contain liquids are below 100 ml and are kept in a clear zip-lock bag.
