Introduction
The football scene is constantly evolving, and one of the latest innovations is the Baller’s league. What started off in Germany, the new six-a-side indoor football league is making waves across the globe. And its latest stop is none other than the UK. Featuring football legends, celebrities and influencers, the league has gained a motemum of attention.
But what exactly does it entail? Like, what is the Baller league? Well lets cover everything you need to know, from what it entails, to latest/upcoming matches.
What is the Baller League?
Well the best way to describe it: it’s football, but with a unique flair and its own original twist. It combines fast-paced football competition, with entertainment and social media to create a sensational tournament for viewers and participants to enjoy.
The league originally started off in Germany by an entrepreneur called Felix Starck. Mats Hummels and Lukas Poldolski are also founders. But the league has not expanded to the US and UK. Popular youtuber KSI will be the president of the UK branch, whilst iShowspeed will be the president of the US.
As previously said, the Baller League takes the original concepts of football, and adds its own original twist. Therefore, the games are much shorter, yet more intense and highly engaging. And it’s worked out successfully, being an instant hit that attracted millions of viewers across the globe.
What are the Rules?
The league follows a six-a-side format. This means that the 2 teams consist of 6 players each, rather than your usual 11. Additionally, there are 12 teams in the league altogether. The structure of the matches is intended to be dynamic and highly-energized. So let’s go over the key differences from traditional football:
- Games only last 30 minutes, and are divided into 2 halves that last 15-minutes.
- There are no corner kicks permitted in games. The intention of this is to keep the game steady, and constantly flowing.
- Teams can substitute players as they wish. This is done to keep the game intense and thrilling.
- Games are played indoors, with a smaller pitch. This is to create and maintain an excited crowd, and keep fans closer to the action.
- Players don’t have to be professional footballers. Instead most teams consist of retired football icons, celebrities, influencers and social media stars. This is done to combine skill, personality and entertainment.
