Introduction
The biggest night in London’s fashion is here! The biggest names in fashion all gathered for a night of celebration and glamour. Furthermore, stars from across the entertainment industry, including Rihanna, Asap Rocky, and Simone Ashley, took to the red carpet at the Royal Albert Hall. Essentially, it truly was a spectacular and eventful night.
Recapping the Night
The night was hosted by TV presenter Maya Jama and musician Kojey Radical. They kicked off with a lively introduction: “Hello, London!” In addition to this, the crowd was greeted with a video speech from the renowned American stylist Law Roach. In it, the icon summarized the year in fashion. This included Alessandro Michele’s debut at Valentino, John Galliano’s seismic Margiela couture collection, and Dries Van Noten’s final turn on the runway.
Shortly after, photographer Tyler Mitchell was presented with the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creation. This was for his groundbreaking work and contribution to Vogue, as well as his “remarkable ability to showcase high fashion in a way that feels laidback and true to life.” Whilst he was presenting his speech, he gave recognition to the city of London for how influential it has been to his trajectory as an artist. “London was the first place I found my feet creatively, after connecting with like-minded photographers, such as Campbell Addy and Nadine Ijewere.”
Moreover, the night went on to be a success, with some of the most iconic winners taking the stage. This included Alex Cosani, who became the first transgender model to win the Model of the Year award. Additionally, performances were held by none other than the legend herself, Debbie Harry. She awed the audience with her track “Heart of Glass” and a cover of Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love.”
Furthermore, legendary pop star Rihanna made sure to make a grand entrance. As the last few guests were ushered inside the ceremony, photographers were preparing to leave. It was at that moment she arrived alongside her partner, Asap Rocky. She was wearing a Christian Lacroix teal fuzz from autumn/winter 2022, paired with a fluffy hat of Brobdingnagian proportions.
