Introduction
We are all aware of the famous UK rap duo, Krept and Konan. Well they are stepping into a new venture outside of music, and looking to further expand their brand.
The beloved pair, whose real names are Casyo Valentine Johnson and Karl Domnic Wilson, are launching their very own supermarket!
Both individuals are very excited and proud of their newest project. Additionally, they are looking forward to opening their doors to customers in the near future.
The Details regarding the Supermarket
But every supermarket must have a name, and there’s will be called Saveways Supermarket. The duo partnered up with entrepreneur Kaysor Ali. Through this, they created a 15,000 sq ft retail store, in their hometown Croydon. Retail stores Asda and IKEA will neighbor the supermarket on Beddington Lane.
The supermarket cost over £1 million to create. Plans have been made to open the doors in February. The store will sell a variety of different items. This includes world foods, premium halal produce, fresh and frozen exotic fish, a bakery and fresh fruit and vegetables. Additionally, household products, ethnic hair and beauty products.
It will also offer foods from worldwide brands such as McCain and Heinz will also be available to purchase.
Additionally, the store will include an onsite multi-faith prayer room available to all customers to use.
There will also be onsite parking for customers to use, with over more than 30 vehicles avaliable. Additionally, the duo have committed to make their supermarket as accessible as possible, so will include a click and collect service and online ordering. Their supermarket will also be on delivery platforms such as Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat.
Although it’s not the first UK supermarket, it’s a heartwarming contribution for the community. Its unique element of being able to cater to so many different ethnic backgrounds sets it apart from the rest. Furthermore, most stores don’t have a sacred space for people to practice their religion. This makes it a special place.
When will the store open?
The announcement was made this past monday by the pair, via a shared instagram collaboration post.
“We have been keeping this a secret for so long. Happy to announce our partnership with our brothers @kaysor_ali we have created a groundbreaking large scale 15,000 sq ft/2 floor, diverse and inclusive world foods supermarket. Offering a unique shopping experience tailored to meet the diverse needs of the local community.”

The store will open February 1st at 12PM, so don’t miss out!!
What does the Supermarket mean for the Duo
The store will generate positivity within the community. Not only is it great for convenience, but it will generate employment and create jobs.
“Saveways is more than just a supermarket, it’s a hub for the community, celebrating cultural diversity while setting a new standard for halal and world food retailing in the UK. The combination of scale, variety, quality and modern convenience makes Saveways a landmark destination for both everyday shoppers and bulk buyers alike.” They stated via their instagram post.
When discussing what inspired them to open a supermarket, Krept recalled his experience of having to shop at multiple places because the major supermarkets don’t have it all. “Have to go here for my meat, here for my fruit and veg and then for certain seasonings I have to go here.”
So instead of having one world food aisle, the duo created a whole supermarket. This will feature food, drinks, hygiene, beauty and other related products from various cultures.
The pair shared the cost of building a store
The store cost £1 million to get off the ground. It won’t just be a supermarket, but a place where people can come and create content. The duo expressed their plans for the foreseeable future to combine the store with music and entertainment. This will include hosting pop-ups and album launch parties.
Konan even gave us a little sneak peek into his plans to put on a show at the supermarket. But that won’t be for a while. Right now they’re priority is to get the supermarket open to members of the public. When asked why they chose Croydon Konan said “I’m from Thornton Heath, so this is my hometown. It’s good to build the foundation where you started the foundation.”
Krept delved a little bit into the cost, “it’s not cheap.” He described the several compartments that go into building a supermarket, such as the elevator, the freezer room. Additionally, the supermarket includes the latest technology so all products are kept modern and fresh, and parking.

Conclusion
The supermarket is set to open this February on 102 Beddington Lane, Croydon. It’s a great convenience to the community, and is set to be a resounding success!! So make sure you don’t miss it.
