The evening opened with a thought-provoking music industry workshop. My Sound Takes Part 2 invited two powerhouse speakers to share insider knowledge.

First up was Jo Dash, Vice President of Activ8us Records. Joining him was Kay “Frix” Agemang, CEO of Dope Fate in association with Virgin Music UK and Universal Music Group. They discussed vital topics: funding your own music, choosing between major and indie labels, securing a record deal, and using tech tools to grow your career.

The advice was practical and inspiring. Attendees learned how to avoid limiting their creativity to impress an A&R. The panel encouraged artists to focus on long-term growth, strategic branding, and team building.

Audience questions flowed. Topics included choosing the right manager, finding valuable collaborations, and building a strong personal brand. The crowd was so engaged that the session slightly delayed the performances.

Final Words from the Panel

The speakers left the audience with powerful advice. Separate your craft from personal relationships. Surround yourself with people who take your career seriously. Remember, when someone invests in you, they invest in your entire team. Your team reflects your brand just as much as you do.
