Navigating your career can be a hard task. Especially for those who didn’t go to university, and thus have fewer resources to point them in the right direction. And even with those resources, it can still be just as hard. Financial restraints often leave working-class individuals at a disadvantage to prusing their careers further.
In a bid to break down those barriers, we’ve devised a list of free events taking place across the UK this May to look out for. Each space hosts career advice, networking and or workshop activities to help you get the dice rolling in your dream career.

Youth Biz Mini Pop-Up Market
Have a sharp eye for brand marketing? Fancy the look of advertising? Or are you a superstar at negotiating? Chances are, if you take an interest in any of the above, you’re going to love what Ultra Education C.I.C. are hosting next month!
On Saturday, 2nd May, they’re running a ‘Youth Biz Mini Pop-Up Market.’ This is specifically for teenagers who want to gain skills in areas such as e-commerce, technology, graphic desing and more. It’s a little more technology and business-heavy, but there is also room for young people to gain experience in exploring creative fields such as fashion and music.

Top In-Demand Health and Social Care Careers in the UK
Whether you have a degree in health of rsocail care, have undergone an internship, or are just at the very beginning stages. South London College is offering a free ‘Top In-Demand Health and Social Care’ careers event on Friday, 8th May.
It’s a webinar, therefore you can take part from anywhere around the world, so long as you have a phone/laptop/desktop to tune in from and steady wifi. As well as an introduction to the course, attendees will have plenty of time to ask questions at the end.

Youth Employability Service Drop In
This is a routine event, taking place at the Youth Employment Hub in Brighton and Hove. Specifically for teenagers between the ages of 16 – 18, this opportunity is best suited to young people fresh out of completing their GCSE’s and who are on the lookout for their next steps.
It’s a casual event with little pressure. You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what you’re looking for, but an incline goes a long way! If you’re keen to gain some tips, then this one is a lightweight opportunity to meet like-minded people, and hopefully leave with more answers than questions.

SkillsWorkshop: Helping you to Secure Employment
On Friday, 15th May, Work Match, an organisation dedicated to helping young adults find work since 2013, is hosting another workshop for young people. Throughout this event, staff will help you devise a CV that best showcases your skills, availability and interests. On top of providing sufficient tools and resources on how to job search effectively. Since part of the job hunting process can be as daunting as not knowing where is best to look.
