The story of Humza Arshad
Humza Arshad, an English actor, comedian, and writer, has left an indelible mark on the UK entertainment scene. He is renowned as one of the most prominent YouTubers in the country. His journey began in September 2010 with the launch of his comedic web series, “Diary of a Bad Man.” The series, centered around the video diaries of a character with the mindset of a seven-year-old, quickly gaining traction. Notably, the fifth episode became the seventh most-viewed video in the UK in 2011, a remarkable feat.
When discussing his use of the platform YouTube to aid his rise to stardom he said, “I just wanted to entertain and that was it. And I use YouTube as a platform. Not to get a fan base because when I started, but my actual ambition was to create, learn how to edit, film, put stuff together and upload it. I hoped that maybe like a casting agent, a director, a writer, or someone in the industry would see my potential and point me in the right direction. I didn’t realize then that I wouldn’t just get one person’s attention, but millions of views.

Arshad influence beyond Youtube
Arshad’s influence extends beyond YouTube. He has been featured on BBC platforms, including interviews and appearances on BBC Asian Network shows. He has also reported for BBC London News. Notably, he made history as the first British YouTuber to create a scripted comedy series for BBC Three with “Coconut,” a mockumentary series. This further cemented his status in the digital media landscape.
But what makes Arshad stand out is his dedication to young people. Throughout the numerous projects and productions he has created, his mission is to always create opportunities for young aspiring actors.
“It was very important for me to do casting, and get young people who may not even have experience or an agent, or, people around them that know of the industry, but just have a passion, like how I was back in the day. And so, with bad man, a lot of young characters, absolutely, you know, young actors, came, and I really wanted to give them an opportunity to shine to be passionate about this project and do the best that they can, whilst giving them the exposure, and the platform where they can be seen by millions of people.”
His career beyond entertainment
But Arshad’s contributions transcend entertainment. He has toured across the UK, delivering stand-up comedy performances. He has performed in renowned venues such as the Shaw Theatre, as well as at prestigious festivals like the Manchester International Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Additionally, he is acclaimed for his children’s novel series, “Little Badman.” The book follows the adventures of an eleven-year-old protagonist navigating a world filled with mysterious disappearances and sinister adversaries.
Using his platform to advocate for the Youth
Whilst his work specializes in comedy, he uses his platform to be a predominant advocator for youth social issues and men’s mental health. “When I was really doing a lot of research I found out, I don’t want to misquote the information because it’s been quite a few years, that suicide was the biggest killer. And it was just, it was just incredible how many people were suffering. So, I made the short film called Boys Don’t Cry, which addresses that, and it was one of my favorite pieces of work.”
Arshad commendable awards
His awards include nominations at the Shorty Awards for his social media presence and a prestigious appointment as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his contributions to education in the 2021 New Year Honors.
Beyond his professional achievements, Arshad is deeply committed to community engagement and social causes. He has collaborated with law enforcement agencies, such as the Metropolitan Police and East Midlands Police. He works to deliver presentations and workshops aimed at preventing radicalization among young people. Through initiatives like “Think for Yourself,” a short film addressing the dangers of extremist ideologies, he advocates for positive change and empowerment within society.
Over the years, Humza has accumulated a remarkable social media following, establishing himself as a prominent figure. He’s currently an ambassador for both YouTube and Google, leveraging his influence to champion their platforms. His journey stands as a beacon of inspiration for many, and Inside Success takes great pride in honoring his achievements.
Conclusion: His final words of inspiration to the youth
Humza left us all with some encouraging words of advice for aspiring young content creators, that show an interest and passion, but don’t really know how to get their foot in the door:
“I would say consistency is the most important and have fun with it as well. Because if it’s something that you’re going to be consistent with and do on a regular basis. Don’t do it just because you want to be famous and make money, but you hate it. You must try to enjoy it, try to like it. That’s why with me, even when I was editing and putting things together. I would never see it as work I would see as having fun. And when you’re having fun at work, you become unstoppable.”
“Really find your passion of what you want to do and be relentless. There’s going to be millions of people on social media that are doing the same thing as you. If you’re not as hungry as them if not hungrier, then you’re not going to survive.”
