New Raheem Sterling Break-In Shows Glaring Need Among UK Youths

On November 11, Chelsea and England winger Raheem Sterling, was the victim of another break-in, only this time, he was with his family. This time, you ask? Well, the Chelsea forward has been a victim of several of these incidents. In 2022, while he was away on international duty, his family suffered one, and the perpetrators made away with a small fortune. The thieves stole £300k worth of jewelry and personal belongings. They were apprehended though.

These incidents prove one thing: there’s a crime issue in the UK. Too many young people are getting involved in robbery and hooliganism, and something needs to be done about it.

The issues are multifaceted. One, why has Sterling always been targeted? Why do they continue to succeed? At the time of this burglary, Chelsea was supposed to be playing against Wolverhamption Wanderers (Wolves). This may be why they came at the time they did. This would reinforce the feeling that the 30-year-old winger was monitored, and the attack was set at a time they expected him to be away from home.

However, because Sterling is out of favour at Chelsea and has not been in any matchday squad so far this season, he was home with his family on a matchday. This turned out to be significant.

There was something else that was different about this incident. Not only was Sterling home, he confronted the hooligans with a knife. This was careless, but also brave, and that bravery should be recognized.

Careless, because confronting people who are robbing you is dangerous, and with your wife and children around, many people could get seriously injured, or worse. It’s even more dangerous considering the confrontation was done with a knife. With a knife on the scene, things could very quickly go sideways.

Brave, because Sterling’s confrontation worked, and the burglars were scared off. This is why his bravery should be applauded.

If the Elites Aren’t Safe, Who is?

Sterling earns £325,000 per week, and he has been a victim of a break in several times. Granted, his financial status is one of the reasons he’s been targeted, but the issue isn’t him being targeted, it’s the burglars being successful in their attempt.

Sterling has access to resources that can provide him with much better security than the average person. This makes it worrying that burglars are still able to get to him. What hope does the average person have to avoid these confrontations?
