Introduction
Inside Success had the pleasure of partnering with the Institute of Engineering and Technology to host a legendary event. Young people from BAME backgrounds and low socioeconomic communities came together to deliver an empowering workshop to inspire the youth. It aimed to showcase engineering and technology as industries full of immense opportunities, which they may never have had access to before. By breaking down existing barriers, the event served as an inspiration to attendees, encouraging them to pursue careers where they can fulfill their potential and prosper, irrespective of their backgrounds or where they started in life.
Bridging the Opportunity Gap
The event had one primary objective: to bridge the gap between opportunity and awareness for youth who may not have considered exploring careers in engineering or technology. These fields often overlook and exclude individuals from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. This leads to a lack of representation and makes it harder for such groups to access career information.
At Inside Success, we recognized this as a significant problem. Alongside the IET, we are keen to acknowledge this issue and find solutions. By organizing an event that specifically targeted members from these communities, we created a platform where young people could engage with professionals, get inspired, and participate in hands-on experiences that would fuel their interest in engineering and technology while teaching valuable skills.
The Amazing Turnout
The event had an amazing turnout, drawing an impressive crowd of 300 attendees. This showcased the existing interest and enthusiasm for opportunities in engineering and technology.
